Riding The Green Dragon

I rode the green dragon today
oblivious to gravity
through shimmering mist
over emerald fields.

I become a lavender morning glory
flaming majorette’s baton
fennel seed under a denture
feather in typhoon
gravel under treads
warbler on windshield
beetle under carcass
arsonist’s match, assassin’s scar
beauty mark, butterfly wing
dusty cut feet, fever wet towel.

Green dragon, puff of magic
robes of red satin trimmed in gold:
I am 10,000 comets and 10,000 minnows
oasis is mirage, destiny fogs mirrors
as the skull flies apart
for this fever to end.
